Maths teacher John from Cardiff…

I’ve not only got the X-factor because I’m singin’ and dancin’,
but I got the W, X, Y and Z factor, because I’m a mathematician and teach algebra!

Remember “Little Fluffy Clouds” by The Orb? If you do, here’s the Watford version - less “Little Fluffy Clouds”, more just dull and grey really.

It’s by comedian Alan Parker: Urban Warrior, and it’s off a compilation on Distinctive Records called “Y4K”, which you can get here.

If you don’t remember the original, it was a trippy UK ambient dance tune from the early 90’s, in which…

Rickie Lee Jones Geordi La Forge Little Fluffy Clouds
…this woman …talks to this bloke …about these.

Bloke from Start Trek: “What were the skies like when you were young?”

Woman: “They went on forever – They - When I - We lived in Arizona, and the skies always had little fluffy clouds in ‘em, and they were long, clear, and there were lots of stars, at night. And when it would rain, they would all turn - They were beautiful, the most beautiful skies as a matter of fact. Um, the sunsets were purple and red and yellow and on fire, and the clouds would catch the colors everywhere. That’s uh, neat cause I used to look at them all the time, when I was little. You don’t see that. You might still see it in the desert.”

Here’s the original:

Picture Loans
Have you seen that atrocious advert for Picture Loans? The one where “the man has his ultimate financial downfall filmed for him by his petite and long suffering partner who has to endure his obsession with football and borrowing more than he can afford”… Search on YouTube, and there’s loads of homemade spoofs of it…

Here’s the actual ad:

And here’s one of the spoofs:

“What, about football?”

Dr Pepper

Reports are coming in that soft drinks company Schweppes came under fire last night for falsifying the credentials of one “Dr Pepper” for the purposes of nefarious profit, as it emerges that the man in question has no actual medical qualifications at all.

From the NewsBiscuit website:

Industry experts described the news as ‘a likely body blow’ and ‘a public relations catastrophe’, claiming that Dr Pepper’s public image might never recover from the deception; ‘They probably thought that naming a soft drink after a doctor would be a sensible move, giving an impression of health and reliability,’ said Mike Blakemore, editor of the soft drinks industry magazine ‘Fizz!’ ‘But our investigations have shown that Dr Pepper has no connection with health care and is not qualified to dispense medicine or cure people.
